January 28, 2011 - A Night at the Opera

This is the audience at the Met for a performance of Simon Boccanegra, and if you look REALLY closely at the two people standing just slightly above and to the left of the photo's center you will see our friends Rich & Guy. Tom and I met them before the show to people watch* and then we spotted them from our seats. We didn't think it was appropriate to yell their names out (being the Met and all), so we tried some relatively reserved waving to get their attention, but they didn't see us... or at least they didn't wave back if they did (ha ha!)

Unfortunately, I can't say too much about the show because it was a complicated story & I had a hard time keeping my eyes open for this one. All I know for sure is that there was a guy named Simon, who was a pirate, but then became a mayor or something, and then somehow he was the long lost father of some lady who's boyfriend wanted to kill him, but then became his friend, but it didn't matter because someone else killed him and he died. The end. Got it?

*People watching at the Met is almost worth the price of admission alone. We've decided that most of the people in the audiences fall into one of 4 categories - 1) Old, 2) Gay, 3) European & 4) Old Gay Europeans.
