June 29, 2012 - China, Day 4

Today was a travel day and we left Beijing for the smaller city of Xi'an. Before heading to the airport, we played tourist one last time and visited Tiananmen Square. We were going to try and visit Mao's Mausoleum, but the long line and rain helped us decide to save that for another visit in the future.

June 28, 2012 - China, Day 3

The Great Wall of China is no joke. We visited the Mutianyu section on an overcast, rainy day and it turned out to be completely incredible. It felt like we had the place all to ourselves at times. This shot is of our descent from a ridiculously high & steep set of stairs we just climbed... the pictures can't do justice to this place - it really is a true wonder of the world.

June 27, 2012 - China, Day 2

Tom, his co-worker Terrie, and I set off for a full day of adventure in Beijing. We hired a guide from the hotel, handed him a list of places we wanted to see & had a fantastic adventure (see the list below.) Along the way, Tom was asked to pose for a picture with a random stranger - something that happened to one of us almost every day while we were there. This shot is outside the Forbidden city (I went again to walk through with Tom & Terrie.)

June 17, 2012 - Happy Father's Day

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there! As I'm sure you all know, Tom and I are very proud "doggie" dads, so I was happy to catch this shot of him having some quality time with a couple of our children before he left for China.

June 1, 2012 - On the Bus

Tom and I ventured out of our immediate neighborhood for dinner and went to the Double Windsor in Windsor Terrace. It was a funny place, full of drunk old men and lesbian softball players - an odd mix! But, the food was good and riding the bus there and back was a fun adventure.

May 25, 2012 - Pirate Tom

Arrgh - me first mate, Tom, was home for a night between trips so we plundered ye olde Farm for dinner.

May 11, 2012 - Happy (6-month) Anniversary!

Tom and I attended our final opera of the season, The Makropulos Case, and it happened to be our 6-month anniversary. We had a great night and I can't even really begin to tell you how happy I am to be married to such a wonderful person. Look at him!

March 2, 2012 - Surprise Trip

Tom asked me to take day off work so he could surprise me with something... little did I know the surprise was a trip to Kansas City for a BBQ & Steak junket! It was awesome. Our first meal at Hayward's was delicious (we each had the pulled pork sandwich.) That evening, we had steak dinners at an old school steak house called The Majestic. Neither of us could finish our plates, and we were lucky the walk home from the the restaurant was basically down hill! It was a super-fun, exciting adventure day!

February 16, 2012 - Sloth Pug

So, since Howard decided this year he is part parrot and likes to perch on shoulders... Hucky has now decided he is part sloth and instead likes to collapse on them. Oh, Hucky.

February 10, 2012 - A Different Kind of Bird Dog

Howard has recently decided that the arm or back of the sofa, on or next to someone's shoulder, is his new favorite place to perch. He's basically gone from being a lap-dog to something more like a parrot-dog. He's a strange one. Here's Howard the parrot welcoming Tom home from LA.

February 4, 2012 - Birthday Sweetie!

Tom's birthday was earlier in the week, but we had another mini-celebration at The Farm.

February 1, 2012 - Happy Birthday Tom!

We celebrated Tom's birthday at La Cerveceria in the East Village with a bunch of friends. It was a really fun tapas place, and they were very accommodating to us. Tom's picture of the day was of the birthday panna cotta the restaurant brought him, but mine is this - the birthday cuddling welcome he got from the dogs when we got home.

January 26, 2012 - Could It Be Magic?

Colleen's "Hail Barry: For The Love of Manilow" was a lot of fun. She, as always, was wonderful, but for the 2nd year in a row, the highlight for me was watching Tom sing backup for her!

January 4, 2012 - Waiting For the Car

Daddy Tom was heading out of town again, so Foxy sat with him and watched for his car to arrive as we all waited on the porch early this morning.

September 2, 2011 - Flashback!

This photo from September, 2008, is of Tom, his sister and his niece on the ferry to Ellis Island. They were visiting and we had a really fun day doing all kinds of tourist-y things... including the Tenement Museum on the Lower East Side (I recommend it highly!)

July 8, 2011 - Meet Tom, Guide to Broadway

Pretty much everyone who knows Tom knows that he loves seeing Broadway shows, but you should also all know he's not just a fan... he's like a personal guide to Broadway.

Here is why:

1. He has been to almost every single one of the Broadway theaters and knows basically every insider tip for getting discount tickets (read them here!)


2. He was an official reviewer on Broadway.com's Word of Mouth panel, not once, but twice because people liked him so much he was asked back as an "All Star" (watch one of his reviews here!)


3. Every person we know who comes to visit NYC and wants to see a Broadway show asks Tom for a recommendation. My family, his family, our friends, and (here comes the connection to the photo above) a group of theater-lovin' women from the Washington DC area.

"What," (you may be asking in regards to that last bit,) "are you talking about, and what does it have to do with the picture?" Well... one of Tom's co-workers from the DC area and her friends come to New York every year to see shows, and they always get their recommendations from Tom. He's like their own Ben Brantley (NY Times chief theater critic.) And this picture was from just after they treated us to dinner while they are in town as a thank you for all his suggestions over the years. So there you go, my point is made. Q.E.D.
