May 29, 2012 - Two Boots!

Another TnT group practice... another social event! This time we took over the back room of Two Boots Brooklyn for pizza & beer (both well deserved after a very sweaty workout.) Delicious!!

May 28, 2012 - Memorial Day Fun

Memorial day was beautiful... and I spent a lot of it outside with the dogs. Foxy & Scrappy each got individual walks, and Howard & Hucky got a special walk too. Afterwards, we all hung out in the backyard for awhile and I gave the dogs a soak since it was so sunny.

May 27, 2012 - Goat

Tom reminds me he wants a goat at least once every couple months. I've been saying "no" for a long time, but I went to MoMA with my friend Rich for a day of culture and decided I would be ok with Picasso's She-Goat if it were available!

May 26, 2012 - I May Have Gone Too Far

Scrappy doesn't like walking around the block anymore - at least not with me. He's figured out that if he just plants his feet and refuses to move, I will pick him up and carry him instead of dragging him until he relents. So... I bought a little dog carrier - kind of like a canine baby bjorn. It's ridiculous (I realize,) and the old Russian ladies I see on my morning walk laugh at me, but Scrappy loves it and it actually makes the walks a lot easier.

This shot is from above of Scrappy in the carrier and the other 3 on the ground. I'm still a little too embarrassed to show the full on frontal of him in his "bag," but I'm sure a picture of it will find it's way to the blog soon.

May 25, 2012 - Pirate Tom

Arrgh - me first mate, Tom, was home for a night between trips so we plundered ye olde Farm for dinner.

May 24, 2012 - TBSOTV SYTYCD

The dogs and I watched the season 9 premiere of "So You Think You Can Dance" (The Best Show On TV.) Once again - it's off to a great start!! I teared up a couple times, but the night's highlight was Hampton Williams who danced what he called exorcist style (watch the video!)

May 23, 2012 - Oh, Howard

I have no idea what he's thinking, but Howard sure was cute lying on the bed like this.

May 22, 2012 - Smile, Hucky, Smile

Hucky really tries hard to smile pretty, but remember that scene in Addams Family Values where Wednesday Addams smiles and people get scared...

May 21, 2012 - Watch Your Step

It is raining in Brooklyn, and therefore the corner of our block is completely flooded.

May 20, 2012 - Fabulous 5th Avenue Festival

It couldn't have been a prettier day for the annual "Fabulous 5th Avenue Festival." As an alternative to the exclusive GoogaMooga festival happening a few blocks away in Prospect Park, this festival was accessible to all and people showed up!

Along with the standard street fair vendors, tons of local merchants had booths out & I loved walking up and down my old street, enjoying beers along the way and saying "hi" to random friends who were also celebrating the neighborhood.

May 19, 2012 - Michelle & Christa

I attended my first legal gay wedding as a guest and it was absolutely incredible & wonderful. My friends Michelle & Christa, who have been together for twenty years, had a ceremony in their backyard. It was full of friends, family, children and tons of love. I was so honored to be included, and so happy for them (and all of us,) that this public acknowledgment of their relationship & commitment was finally possible.

May 18, 2012 - The Reservoir

Because our office was closed for sort of a "thank you for the hard work - take the day off" thing, I got to enjoy running around the city on Friday. One of my to-do's was near the reservoir in Central Park, so I stepped in quickly to appreciate it on such a beautiful day - gorgeous!

May 17, 2012 - On The Move

Just a shot looking west on Houston as I travel from one post-work activity to another. It was a beautiful night AND the start of a three-day weekend because of a bonus Friday off we all got to enjoy.

May 16, 2012 - Thank You Foxy

Hmm - this was my one of my "safety" photos (to make sure I got at least one for the day.) Poor li'l Foxy puts up with so much.

May 15, 2012 - Go Team!

Well... I did it. I signed up for another season of Team and Training and will be running the NYC marathon in the fall with them. The season doesn't officially start for a few more weeks, but we had our first pre=season training session which led to the first pre-season social at Zito's Sandwich Shoppe. It was fun seeing a bunch of old teammates and I'm really happy to be part of such a great cause again.

May 14, 2012 - Scrappy Wants Chicken

He's such a little beggar... and it's hard to say "No" when he can't even hear!

May 13, 2012 - Couch Pug-tatoes

Tom and I finally started watching Breaking Bad (via Netflix.) For any fans of the show, it shouldn't be a big surprise to hear that our day quickly turned into a viewing marathon. The dogs watched too, but they really had a hard time staying awake ;) !

May 12, 2012 - Another CP Morning

I was surprised to get a reminder about a 10K race in Central Park because I didn't remember signing up for it, but decided I would see it through even though I knew I would be really tired after a night at the opera. After getting up very early and taking the train up to Central Park, I got to the number pick-up area for the race and made an unfortunate discovery... I had not actually signed up for the race after all. The New York Road Runners made a mistake and sent reminders to everyone who had registered for a different race. It would have been nice if they had sent out a correction, but at that point I was already there, and it was a BEAUTIFUL morning, so I went ahead and ran anyway.

May 11, 2012 - Happy (6-month) Anniversary!

Tom and I attended our final opera of the season, The Makropulos Case, and it happened to be our 6-month anniversary. We had a great night and I can't even really begin to tell you how happy I am to be married to such a wonderful person. Look at him!

May 10, 2012 - The Dove Parlour

Post-work drinks with coworkers at The Dove Parlour. A bittersweet occasion (because they were goodbye drinks for someone I liked working with,) but a fun place!

May 9, 2012 - Empty Glass or Opportunity?

A tough choice after a looooong day at work - time to call it a night or time to get a refill?

May 8, 2012 - Au Revoir, Football Baby

Somebody was very busy overnight... I woke up to a bedroom covered with dog toy filling. Poor football baby, we'll miss you.

May 6, 2012 - Kids & Dogs

Our friend Ellen came over to visit with her daughter Henrietta. At some point in the afternoon this scene happened... and it made me smile.

May 5, 2012 - 92nd Street Y

Colleen performed in a tribute to Cole Porter/Noel Coward at the 92nd Street Y, so Tom, Jim, Rich, Guy & I all went to see the show. She was FANTASTIC (of course,) but it was an odd crowd. I'll just say the 5 of us were all probably at least 40 years younger than the average age of everyone else in the audience. It made getting around a little slow going, but on the positive side there was barely a line at the bar (since it was a flight up from the main seating!)

May 4, 2012 - (Almost) SuperMoon

I got back to NYC in time for dinner so Tom & I walked over to the Farm. On the way, I took this shot in anticipation of the "SuperMoon" hype that was supposed to come the following evening.

May 3, 2012 - New Lun Ting Cafe

I had a break from work stuff at lunch and roamed up the hill to SF's Chinatown. After searching for "chinese food" on Yelp, I ended up at the New Lun Ting Cafe on Jackson. It wasn't much to look at, but my food was great.

May 2, 2012 - OMG, EW&F!

Yes, that's right suckers. Earth, Wind & Fire. Verdine - Phillp - Ralph. I got to see a private concert as part of an email summit I'm attending, and I think it has been worth coming if just for this.

May 1, 2012 - Frank's Fancy Potty

I visited my friend Frank's house in San Francisco for the first time. It was completely charming and wonderful, but I couldn't resist taking a picture of his fancy, high-tech, Japanese potty. So cool!

April 30, 2012 - Brooklyn Industrial

I shot this from the subway as we were going past the Gowanus canal. It's the little industrial section along the canal banks and I find it so intriguing. It's like a hidden pocket of activity that I really only see from this perspective, and it's a regular reminder to me that Brooklyn's an incredibly complex part of the city and not just a flavor-of-the-day hub for hipsters and angry stroller-moms.

April 29, 2012 - Black Squirrel

I saw a black squirrel as I was walking to the subway. I don't see them often around here, but they have a connection to the Quad Cities where I grew up. According to Wikipedia, the QC is one of the main areas of the country where this "melanistic subgroup of the Eastern Grey Squirrel" is well established. I remember it being a common talking point of things that made my hometown interesting.
