February 28, 2012 - Headless Tabitha

It was late... I needed a picture... nothing exciting... UNTIL - I turned up the exposure on my photo of "Tabitha Takes Over" on the TV. OMG - her head. It's gone!!!!
Disclaimer: I know this is still not very exciting.

February 27, 2012 - Little Dogs All In A Row

Four little dogs, all in a row.

What are they thinking?

I'll just never know

February 26, 2012 - Dog Play

It was a beautiful, (dare I say, spring?) day and the dogs were having a great time outside. Foxy and Howard had fun chasing each other around the back yard and doing a little wrestling whenever they caught up with each other. Huzzah!

PS - don't worry about the state of the landscaping you see here... it will be lush and green soon enough!

February 25, 2012 - Race Time

Although it seemed like it was going to be a blustery morning, this year's Al Gordon 4M in Prospect Park was great.

February 24, 2012 - (Our) Brooklyn Zoo

In your face like a can of mace, baby!

February 23, 2012 - What Is Going On With The Weather?

It's February 23rd and our tulips are starting to come up. Crazy. And what do we do with all the fancy cabbages?

February 22, 2012 - Bailey House Auction

Tom and I attended the 22nd Annual Bailey House Auction & Party, an event to help support Bailey House's work to serve homeless people with HIV/AIDS. It was held in the mid-town Armory and it was a pretty spectacular event. There was a ton of items for people to bid on including art, furniture, tickets to events and more; lots of booze everywhere; lots of food; and lots of fabulous looking people. Plus, the ceiling was covered with all these helium balloons holding up gigantic banners!

February 21, 2012 - IKEA project

I decided we needed more storage for bowls, we just don't have room in our kitchen cabinets anymore. So... IKEA to the rescue!! I thought this glass cabinet might work in the dining room, so I gave it a shot. It was super heavy, and I'm not sure that I actually like it, but it sure was fun to put together (it's like Legos for grownups!)

February 20, 2012 - Linsanity

Apparently, Dish Network dropped the MSG channel sometime back in 2010. I had no idea and honestly never thought I would care, but now the Knicks are LINSANE and I want to watch them!!! So... I trotted over to the 773 lounge (our neighborhood sports bar,) for some Knicks/Nets action. Unfortunately, the Knicks lost - but it was a fun place to hang out for a couple hours.

February 19, 2012 - Paella!

One of the many wonderful gifts Tom & I received for our wedding was a paella pan. Let me tell you... it's an awesome piece of equipment!

We invited our friends Rich & Guy and Tom's high school friend Rhonda over to watch the premiere of The Amazing Race and decided paella would be a fun international dinner to serve. It worked out great, and it looked super-impressive in the pan.

February 18, 2012 - Manhattan Terrace

Our friends Kevin & Jim invited us over for dinner so we could see their new apartment in Chelsea. It was beautiful, and it had one of my favorite things in the whole world - a terrace! This view is looking up 7th Avenue from about 23rd St (the glow is Times Square.)

February 17, 2012 - Top Chef Dining

Tom and I finally made it over to Top Chef contestant Dale Talde's new Park Slope restaurant & it was great! We decided to sit at the counter right next to the kitchen so we could see all the action... it was a lot of fun watching Dale call the orders (and joke with the cooks.)

Oh, and the food was delicious. We started with an order of the pork & chive dumplings, and then shared the crispy oyster & bacon(!!) pad thai and Koren fried chicken as our entrees.

Within the first couple bites, we agreed it was sad we couldn't try everything and decided we would be coming back so we could order some of the other items. (Let me know if you want to join us next time!!)

February 16, 2012 - Sloth Pug

So, since Howard decided this year he is part parrot and likes to perch on shoulders... Hucky has now decided he is part sloth and instead likes to collapse on them. Oh, Hucky.

February 15, 2012 - Severus

Tom, our friend Dave, and I went to see the new Broadway play Seminar and it was GREAT. It starred Severus SnapeAlan Rickman along with Lily Rabe, Jerry O'Connell, Hamish Linklater, and Hettienne Park. I thought all the actors did a fantastic job, and the show was very smart, dark, and funny.

Here's a shot of Alan Rickman signing programs afterwards. Yes, we waited by the stage door like a bunch of giddy tourists to see them all come out - yay, New York!!

February 12, 2012 - A New Look For Scrappy?

"Do these glasses make me look smarter?"

February 11, 2012 - Biergarten!

Our friends Jack & Jon live 2 doors down from our friends Grant & Bob in Jersey City, so Tom & I met them all at the Zeppelin Hall Biergarten for a fun Saturday evening.

February 10, 2012 - A Different Kind of Bird Dog

Howard has recently decided that the arm or back of the sofa, on or next to someone's shoulder, is his new favorite place to perch. He's basically gone from being a lap-dog to something more like a parrot-dog. He's a strange one. Here's Howard the parrot welcoming Tom home from LA.

February 9, 2012 - Leveraging Your Assets

Scrappy's "melt your heart underbite." It never fails to impress.

February 8, 2012 - Les Chiens Sont Sur Le Lit

I've taken pictures of the four dogs on the bed together before, so I was worried that this might feel like a repeat. But then I realized A) I take lots of pictures of the dogs, they're kind of all repeats; B) I didn't really do anything last night, it was either a picture of this or the left-over spaghetti I ate for dinner; C) our dogs rock! More is better!

In any case, I wanted something to feel new about this, so I gave the post a fancy French title. Fun!

February 7, 2012 - Scrappy Anniversary!

Six months ago, Tom & I found a little dog sitting on the sidewalk outside our house. He looked like he was in pretty bad shape, but he had a lot of attitude, and he was very sweet - so we called him Scrappy & went from a family of 5 to a family of 6. What a great decision.

We've learned a lot about Scrappy since then: he's completely deaf, he's probably around 12 years old, he's not scared to boss the other dogs around (despite being 1/2 to 1/4 their size & having very few teeth to back up his orders,) he loves to find little hidey-spots around the house to sleep (which makes it a challenge to find him sometimes!,) he likes to bark at cars, he's a big wiggler in the morning and stamps a lot when he wants attention, he's great to bring to work, he gravitates towards things that we think he could have found on the street (like old pieces of rope and garbage bags,) and Mexican food gets him begging like crazy. We've also learned that Scrappy is very photogenic and he's become a Facebook favorite (thanks DailyCandy!)

But the most important thing is still what we basically knew all along - Scrappy is a sweet little guy and Tom & I are just as lucky as he is that he ended up in front of our house that crazy morning.

February 6, 2012 - Can You Spell That?

Tom, Colleen and I shared a cab and I couldn't resist taking a picture of the driver's 13-letter last name (including 8 consonants.)

More exciting than the picture was the reason for the ride... we were coming home from the AFTRA Foundation's 2012 AMEE awards. The gala event was held in the Grand Ballroom at The Plaza Hotel, I got to meet Roseanne Cash, and the whole thing was a lot of fun! (And it was especially nice to hear lots of people say wonderful things about Tom all night long!)

February 5, 2012 - Super Bowl Fixins

The result of our game day run to the grocery store. Good times!

February 4, 2012 - Birthday Sweetie!

Tom's birthday was earlier in the week, but we had another mini-celebration at The Farm.

February 3, 2012 - Opera!

Tom and I went to Gotterdammerung, the conclusion of Wagner's Ring Cycle, at the Met for our first 2012 opera. And despite taking 5 1/2 hours to get through, it was really great. Except the ending. I found it completely underwhelming and even had a hard time not laughing at what was supposed to be a very dramatic conclusion to an epic tale of misery (you know... someone throwing themselves on a funeral pyre, destruction of a city, end of the ancient gods - typical opera stuff.) It was almost worse because I found the rest of the staging pretty incredible in comparison.

But - the Met is never without drama! Luckily the guy sitting next to me made up for what was lacking on stage with an incredible outfit. This is a shot I snuck of him at one of the intermissions. Opera!

PS - click here to read Tom's awesome report of the production!

February 2, 2012 - Sexy Bourbon Caramels

Colleen surprised us with this awesome find - Bourbon Caramels! I don't know why there's a sexy silhouette of a lady in high-heels on the package, but it's fun... and the caramels are DELICIOUS!

February 1, 2012 - Happy Birthday Tom!

We celebrated Tom's birthday at La Cerveceria in the East Village with a bunch of friends. It was a really fun tapas place, and they were very accommodating to us. Tom's picture of the day was of the birthday panna cotta the restaurant brought him, but mine is this - the birthday cuddling welcome he got from the dogs when we got home.

January 31, 2012 - This is Trouble

I just discovered one of my neighborhood restaurants (Los Mariachis) delivers something they call "Mexican Pizza." It's definitely not even close to the wonderfulness of my beloved Happy Joe's Taco Pizza, but... I'll admit... I might have to get this again... in a moment of weakness.
